>> Nov. 05, 2007 - Regarding entry of judgment against Yucheng Lujian Biological Co., LTD.

Roquette Frères announces that the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey has issued a judgment enjoining Yucheng Lujian Biological Co., Ltd. from importing or selling infringing maltitol crystals or any equivalent thereof in the United States throughout the life of Roquette's U.S. Patent No. 6,344,591.

Earlier in this patent infringement action filed by Roquette, the Court entered a judgment enjoining Yucheng's customer, Fass Food Ingredients, LLC, from further import into the United States of any maltitol product which infringes U.S. Patent No. 6,344,591.

“We believe this judgment highlights the strength of our intellectual property, specifically as it supports our strategic focus on Polyols technologies”, said Bruno Quénon, IP Manager of Roquette Frères.

U.S. Patent No. 6,344,591 was granted in February of 2002 with a term extending to September 2018. The invention claims modified maltitol crystals with a bipyramidal form and related crystalline maltitol compositions. The Patent also covers the process of manufacturing such maltitol crystals.

The Patent has other equivalent patents filed in several countries. This lawsuit against Yucheng is in line with Roquette’s strategy to protect its intellectual property in the United States and all over the world.
